An AI assistant for your Telegram chat

Moderagram puts an AI assistant into your Telegram group through a bot of your own. It reads the recent discussion before it answers, runs on your AI provider key, and works behind moderation rules that keep spam and floods out.

  1. Igor

Clean-up on Saturday at 10, we meet by the second entrance. The management company brings the bags, gloves are on you.

  2. Olga

    I'll bring the rakes 🙂

  3. Marina

Simeon, when and where is the clean-up?

Simeon, when and where is the clean-up?

On Saturday at 10:00, by the second entrance, as Igor wrote above. The bags come from the management company, bring your own gloves; Olga brings the rakes.

It answers when a member writes its name, mentions its @username or replies to its message. Everything else costs nothing.

What works today

Four parts that work together in your chat.

An assistant in the chat

You describe its role, its tone and what it must not do, then pick the language of its replies and the model. The Secretary template answers questions about the chat from the recent messages and the thread of replies.

  • Responds to its bot's Telegram name, its @username, a reply to its message, or words you add
  • A fallback model is tried once when the main one fails
  • Several bots in one chat, each with an assistant of its own
  • Answers everyone or admins only, with a pause per member and daily caps

Moderation rules

Modules you switch on per chat and tune in the dashboard. The rules act first: the assistant never answers a message they deleted or a member they banned or muted.

  • New member quiz — a newcomer solves a short math question in time, or is banned
  • Anti-flood — limits bursts of messages: warns, deletes or mutes
  • Link filter — allows or blocks links by domain
  • Language guard — warns about messages in an unexpected language

Your own AI key

Assistants run on your account with the provider: Anthropic, OpenAI, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, such as OpenRouter, Gonka or a model you host. You pay the provider directly, at its prices.

  • The key is checked before it is saved, stored encrypted and never shown again
  • A monthly token cap per key: once it is reached, the key's assistants go quiet
  • This month's usage in tokens, per key and per model
  • A journal of answers and errors that says what to fix

The chat's memory, with consent

The archive is what the assistant reads. It is switched on per chat and starts only once the bot has posted a notice to the members: nothing written before that is stored.

  • Messages are kept 30, 90 or 365 days, or with no limit
  • An edited message is kept in its latest version
  • You choose how many recent messages and how much of a reply chain an answer reads
  • Switching it off can delete the messages together with the assistants' journal

From a bot to the first answer

At every point the dashboard names the next step.

  1. 1

    Open Moderagram in Telegram

Sign in with your Telegram account and create a project.

  2. 2

Add your bot and a group

Paste the bot's token from @BotFather, add the bot to the group and send /connect there, or pick the group from Telegram's list. You need to be an admin of the group.

  3. 3

    Connect an AI provider

Add an API key of Anthropic, OpenAI or a compatible endpoint; the provider confirms it before it is saved.

  4. 4

Create an assistant and ask it

Start from the Secretary template, choose a model, connect it to the chat with the archive on, and address it by the bot's name.

In the works

Not in the service yet: these are the next things we are building.

  • Photos and voice messages, read as part of the conversation
  • Search across the whole archive, with links to the messages
  • Documents shared in the chat, read and quoted by the assistant
  • Channels, with a newsroom that drafts posts for your approval
